Von einem suicide by cop (englisch für “Suizid durch Polizist“) spricht man, wenn jemand einem Polizisten durch vorsätzliches Verhalten keine Wahl lässt, als ihn zu erschießen.
Das kann z.B. vorkommen, wenn ein Amokläufer nicht vorhat seine Tat zu überleben, sich aber nicht selbst umbringt - indem er die Menschen in seiner Umgebung bedroht, bleibt der Polizei nichts anderes übrig, als zu schießen.
