„Etwa ein Prozent der Frauen erkrankt während ihres Lebens an einer Anorexie (Magersucht) und circa zwei Prozent der Frauen leiden während ihres Lebens an einer Bulimie (Ess-Brech-Sucht). Frauen erkranken etwa zwölfmal häufiger als Männer an einer Magersucht oder Bulimie. An Essattacken ohne Hunger und Erbrechen (Binge-Eating-Störung) erkranken zwischen zwei bis drei Prozent der Bevölkerung.“
