… Jahrgang 1942, ist Psychologe; er war Leiter der Abteilung Klinische Psychologie bei der American Psychological Association (APA), zu dessen Präsident er 1966 gewählt wurde. Von der APA erhielt er mehrere Auszeichnungen für herausragende wissenschaftliche Leistungen; 2009 wurde er mit dem ersten Wiley Award der British Academy für die Beiträge seines Lebenswerks zur Psychologie ausgezeichnet.
