Affirmation

Der Begriff Affirmation bezeichnet eine bejahende Formulierung, ähnlich wie Mantras, zur Stärkung des Positiven Denkens. Da das Wort „Affirmation“ selbst schon beinhaltet, dass es sich um eine positive Aussage handelt, ist die Bezeichnung „positive Affirmation“ doppelt gemoppelt; es gibt also keine „negative Affirmation“, der Begriff hierfür wäre dann „Pejorativ“.
Bekanntestes Beispiel für eine Affirmation dürfte derzeit Obamas Ausspruch sein: „Yes, we can!“

Die Sätze kann sich jeder nach eigenem Gutdünken selbst gestalten, sie sollten jedoch kurz sein, keine Begründungen enthalten, keine negativ belasteten Worte (wie z.B. „nicht“, „kein“, „nie“ etc.) und man sollte sie vor allem selbst glaubwürdig finden.
Statt also z.B. zu sagen: „Ich überfordere mich nicht mehr!“, kann man so formulieren: „Ich achte auf mich!“. Wenn man Zweifel an dieser Aussage spürt, wandelt man weiter ab, z.B. „Ich lerne, auf mich zu achten.“
