„Das Diakonische Werk ist auf dem Weg, eine ganz normale Firma zu werden. Nach dem Ende der sozialpolitischen Schönwetterperiode der Selbstkostendeckung für die Krankenhäuser vor zehn Jahren verblasst der Glanz des so genannten Dritten Weges der religiös geprägten freigemeinnützigen Gesundheitskonzerne.“
